How do I remove this file from my computer?
I started to download a film, but the film turned out to defective, so I aborted the download. However, I now have in my computer a file with the title of that film, indicating that it is opened via "Demon Lite", which I have on the computer. That seemed harmless until I tried to delete this file from the computer, and a window told me that I could not do this because the file was open in System; it said that I was to close the file.... but since System is not a place where files are kept, I see no way to close the file. Any suggestions to get rid of this file? (I scanned the file and my virus protection program said that it was not infected.) Thanks.
I tried Unlocker, but it reported that it could not find a locking handle on the file. CCleaner didn't touch it. Other suggestions?
I tried the Task manager, but the file was not listed in either the Services or Processes. (These are mostly programs, and the file is a portion of a film.)

i understand your problem now. its "Daemon Tools Lite" you're talking about not "demon lite". first of all, its not any virus or anything, just an image mounting program. it seems that the image's still mounted on the system, so:
1. open "my computer"
2. now if you do have a physical cd drive, there may be 2 of them appearing in the window. right click on both of them and click "eject". this should do it.
OR
1.if the problem persists, open "Daemon Tools Lite". now right click on its icon in the system tray and click "Unmount all" that will definitely do it. Cheers

Since you have mentioned 'Demon Lite' to be using the file, I assume that this program is keeping you file busy and hence preventing you from deleting. Try ending the 'Demon Lite' Software from task manager and continue the deletion process. This is one way to do.
If this doesn't help, right click the file and hit Properties. Click on the Securities tab (for Windows 7). Under Group or user name, click on the Edit button. on the next window hit the Add button. Type in the given space the word 'everyone' or simple type 'e' and press enter. You'll find a new user under 'group or user names'. now check below 'permissions for everyone'. check on 'Full control' and save the changes by pressing 'ok'. You should probably be able to delete now.
This is the last step...... if you still can't delete it, start your system in 'safe mode'. In this mode most of the system stays idle... so you should be easily be able to delete it. If you can't switch to safe mode, know this, you system is infected....
Hope I've been of help :)

Well, one way is to try finding if the file is accessed by any application in the Resource monitor (get it from performance tab in task manager). See Resource monitor's Disk tab and see if that file is being read or accessed in any way. Find the application doing this and kill it.
Or the best way is got to Safe Mode: press F8 on startup before windows loads, or, start menu> run> msconfig> boot tab> tick safe boot (remember to untick it for normal booting after you're done)
Then, in the safe mode you will be able to delete it pretty simply.
If that is not working then let me know.
Hope it helps :D

fist open task manager by pressing ctrl+alt+delete keys (at the same time) and select processes tab look for the file name if it is not there check the service tab which is next to processes tab. Once you get the file name right click on the name and select 'end process' it should close the file and nou you should be able to delete it.
