Can I change my labret piercing?
I had my labret pierced about 5 days ago, which I know
is very recent, but the long post keeps getting caught on my teeth
and is just annoying in general.
If the swelling had subsided can I change it within the next couple
of days to a short piece of jewelry?

Yep, it's best if you do. But after that, leave it about 1-2 months before changing to a different bar/ loop.
Go back the piercer who will be able to get the most suitable sized bar for you, and ask what that is for future reference. Some may do this for free, others may charge you for the new bar.
