Bands that should have changed names?

Which other bands should have changed names due to extreme personnel/sound changes? Why?

Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship did it right.

Fleetwood Mac is a completely different band with Peter Green then after him (enter Christine McVie and the new line up)

Genesis with and without Peter Gabriel

Guns and Roses-- with and without original line up

BQ: Is it bad to not add a BQ?

BQ2: One Direction or Nickelback? MUST CHOOSE ONE!

haha

Update:

Dragooon: Not quite what I meant, but ROFL to that.

You are definitely the Bad@$$est cat on R&P

Update 2:

While ROFLing, I accidently TU'd you..... lol

Update 3:

Yeah, Or wins. Maybe that should be my band name!

I guess I really didn't say what you were choosing them for-- eternal damnation, maybe?

Update 4:

HEY!!! How ya doin'?

Tell me more on Ministry and The Cult

Update 5:

Yes is another great example! For me, take out Steve Howe and its not Yes!

I thought about The Beatles and Stones, and I think they just changed a lot, evolved or eroded depending on how or when you think of them. For either, you can refer to "Early Stones" or what not and know what is what, you will still get their early songs in a concert.

With a band like Fleetwood Mac, there is NO musical relationship between the original and post-Peter Green band-- they don't play the older songs, they don't have any resemblance to the original band and McVie and Fleetwood are the only tie between the 2 versions of the band (the rhythm section)... If you mention Fleetwood Mac here, its just assumed we are talking Rumours and Tusk, not Black Magic Woman.....

OK time to actually work!

Update 6:

I'm OK Opiner, its Friday, so that's a great thing!

Last thought: Queen-- Are you referring to Post-Freddie Queen? That's just a Queen tribute band that lets the original band play again.....

OK, I'm off.....

    Hi Elmo!

    Glad you're still around!

F.Mac. That is Mick Fleetwood and John Mc Vie. That's it; Their band!

Documentary about Peter Green on t.v. recently by Martin Celmins

( I hope I spelt his name right? ) . Apparently P. Green chose the bands' name,

as he was not going to be a permanent fixture, within the band. That is why, they have the name they have. His gift to them " their name. "

    M. Celmins wrote a rather good biography on Peter Green. It was something I read a few years ago.

Elmo, if you look on BBC 4, t,v. channel? There are various music programmes on there every Friday evening ( U.K. time - commencing at 9 p.m. ) . Last night was the Peter Bogdanovich film covering Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

To B.Q? Or, not to B.Q? That is the question?

    Whatever makes you happy?

Of course you could ask some Pirate related

questions? Point being, I like Pirates!

One Direction! They're British, don't you know ??!!

Must support our boys at all times!!!!!!

A place I worked at some time back,

    some blokes there they had a band and;

they were good too. Their name was

" Creaming Jesus. " now isn't that a great name!

    Real style!!

BQ or not Elmo. Please yourself, be happy.

    Guitar practising slow, steady progress;

    I ain't dead yet!!

Have a good day Elmo. Keep smiling!! Saturday evening 12th May U.K. time 9. 30 p.m.

    P.S.**

Someone you may care to listen to, he is worth a listen?

Johnny Dowd - No Regrets. He is really good, cult following

over here and In Europe. See what you think?

Mr Dragooon - Killer punchline. Wrong footed ol' Elmo there! Classic!!!!!

    Source(s): Music lover, good luck!

Well I kind of think the Allman Brothers Band should have changed the name after Duane died..it doesn't make much sense to me to keep the name. I mean it's nice to remember Duane but still, I don't know, I don't really care about the name honestly, just is interesting I guess. Oh yeah and I agree about Yes..and the fact the lineup is without Jon Anderson nowadays is a shame, it isn't Yes without Anderson either.

    BQ:Nah.

BQ2:Geesh..I have to pick one? fine, Ni....ck...le.....ba.....c....k. That was really hard to say. lol. But I have never heard any thing by One Direction but from what i've heard people say they're pretty bad.

Agree with you on this one. One of the worst Bands for this had to be Yes. It had so many lineups but because one band member stayed, he had the rights to call the Band Yes. At one point they were going to change to Cinema and Drama but went back to the Yes name to sell records. When original Members Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe reformed Yes they weren't allowed to use the name as the other Yes lineup was still playing!!

BQ: I usually ask another question than BQ

BQ2: One Direction as I'm British

The Misfits, seriously, they should've changed it once Danzig left, f**king Jerry Only ruined that band.

Mayhem too, Mayhem was done once Dead and Euronymous died, it's the truth and everyone knows it.

    BQ: Yes, I enjoy BQs.

    BQ2: Nickelback.

The Velvet Underground when they released their last album, "Squeeze". It didn't have any of the original lineup, but they still kept the name.

    BQ: YES!!! D:< (nah, I'm kidding) :)

BQ2: I'm gonna go with "or"
