what do you know about Hep C?

A woman I know says her Dr THINKS she has Hep C... She is very skinny and takes a lot of pain meds. she drinks a lot but told me she can't drink any more cuz her liver is "messed up " Wouldn't a quick blood test confirm hep C ? I have shared a sub sandwich with her am I in danger? I don't know how she would have contacted it... she just said she has always been careful. I thot it was from drugs. I did have the whole injection series when I worked for the school district but that was years ago. I don't know much about it... But I guess this is what this site is for huh? thanks for your input.

Update:

Oh your right Lab Guy... It was B ... see I said I didn't know much about it!

You don't have to worry about getting this disease from sharing food. The hepatitis B virus is known as a blood-borne virus because it is transmitted from one person to another via blood or fluids contaminated with blood. Another important route of transmission is from an infected mother to a newborn child, which occurs during or shortly after birth.
