Star Trek Wrath of Khan in Theaters (Original Release)?

Does anyone remember seeing this in theaters? 3 members of my family could swear that just before Khan died, he was laying on the ground, saw the Enterprise streak away at warp speed, looked dismayed and then died. The scene does not appear on any of the DVDs or video tapes of the movie, but the three of us are fairly certain it was in the original theatrical release. Does anyone else remember this, or are we just wishfully thinking?

Update:

Fifth wheel. You may have seen the movie dozens of times on DVD or video tape, but did you actually see it dozens of times in the theater when it was first released?

I saw it twice in theaters and I don't recall any such shot.

Then again, that WAS 20 years ago.

Nitpick: Khan couldn't have been "on the ground" as he was inside a spaceship.

I have seen this movie dozens of times. The last scene with Khan has him looking at the Enterprise as it is trying to escape. I do not think he saw the ship go into warp drive. It just does not show that.
