Do push ups build pec muscles?

I'm doing five sets of ten conventional push ups. I can really feel it in my arms, and in my pecs to a lesser degree.

Will conventional push ups increase both arm and pec size? I want to get toned before Summer.

yes they will to some point

they will tighten an tone the chest an triceps

but if you really want to build a strong developed body

u need to train each muscle once a week 40-60 mins a session

    3-4 different exercises a muscle

including legs... everything once a week

Toned you say? First of all, girls get toned. Guys get muscular. I'm guessing when you say you want to get "toned" you mean bigger muscles, less body fat, etc. Well yes, pushups are a compound exercise that work your entire upper body. They'll work your pecs, triceps, shoulders, and even your lats to a certain degree during the eccentric (lowering) phase of the lift. But the key to gaining muscle is more than just exercise, you have to eat properly to supplement your growth.

Yes they will. Push ups are a great fundamental exercise that works chest, arms, and back. I think even the most advanced bobdybuilder should use them regularly in there routine. You should add some pull ups, dips, and body weight squats and lunges into your routine!

Yes and no. The width of your hand placement during a pushup delegates where the strain will go. The further apart your hands are during a pushup, the more it will work chest and back and shoulders. The closer you go it will work inside or outside of biceps as well as some triceps.

Yup, for pecs spread your arms out wider about 4 feet apart and do them, for triceps do them a foot apart.
