If I sign my car over to my daughter will the insurance cover it?
I own my "daughter's car" and have it insured. If I sign it over to her, will my insurance stop covering it at that moment because ownership changed?
In other words, nobody has a clue. Thanks for trying anyway. My agent is out til next week. I can wait."

IN the USA anyway you can call your agent and have your daugter put under your policy ask them what the best thing is to do for example she will get a better rate with you as the owner and her as the owner and primary driver so that if you ever drive the car too its covered. But call your agent he works for you and has multiple insurance companies that he writes policies for. You may welll be able to change ownership and leave her on

The best thing to do would be to contact the insurance company and ask them about this situation to be certain. The last thing anyone should do is drive a vehicle that isn't properly insured! Since insurance regulations change at times, it's better to ask and make sure the vehicle and driver is covered.

not in most states. the car is insured not the person. that is why if you loan your car out and something happens ins. is still good as long as it is a current licensed driver. so, yes if car is insured your safe.
Source(s): My source is simply I loaned my car out once....it was crashed insurance didnt care...they told me, you insure the car, not the person.
