Yes, as long as they can overcome the problems with getting a battery to take a charge large enough to carry the car 300 miles and charge it in a few minutes. Rapid progress is happening on both of these fronts. Some technology in the pipe has the potential of giving EV's 900 mile ranges or roughly triple what the average gas tank holds.

The reason they will succeed isn't anything to do with the environment. They're just better vehicles. They handle better, can be built to be much faster than gas cars, they're quieter, and they don't require any maintenance beyond replacing tires and sometimes brakes. The list is as endless as why digital cameras are better than film cameras.

It's sort of hard to explain until you own one for a while but it's just better. After tooling around in an EV with direct-drive getting back into a car with a transmission is just annoying. It feels like getting out of your car and getting on a horse. I got beat trying to circle around to two gas pumps at a crowded gas station at lunch hour yesterday with my work car. That doesn't happen with my wife's EV. With that thing I don't even need to wear pants to fuel it.

I don't really care about the environmental benefits. I just like not having to feel like the oil companies permanently own a piece of my wallet any more. Gas prices jumped 20 cents here today. The consumer reporter on TV news actually reported that the only underlying reason for it was "nothing", just that the major player in the local fuel market just figured people would pay it because they have to. Not being enslaved to that sort of thing has its own value.

possibly you're making plans for "The close to destiny" electric automobiles have the aptitude to be plenty greater trouble-free and efficient than inner combustion automobiles with all those areas leaping around 50 time a minute. in the event that they could basically shrink the "selection stress" difficulty of batteries. Laboratory experiments have made short term 10x advancements in battery means and repeatable longer 3x advancements, translated to weight help or selection progression could make all of the version. so a ways fossil fuels are nonetheless the common source of electric vehicle capacity, however the greater beneficial capability performance of electric automobiles nonetheless helps electrics to come lower back out particularly forward. it particularly is sort of of a poultry and egg concern, ought to scrub electricity materials come earlier adopting scaling up electric vehicle technologies. It looks like China could finally end up the chief in electric vehicle production, greater efficient paintings on those language skills. it particularly is asserted that great scale electric era vegetation perform at basically one velocity, producing a surplus of capacity for the time of off top hours, possibly the type of electric automobiles to soak up that surplus for the time of in one day recharges may be the ideal sort of them to have.

i believe they will because we are running out cheap oil think about it.. everyting is power by fossil fuels theres 8 barrels in just the tires of a car, we import foreign oil using boats powered by gas, we transport everything with oil, and also everything that is powered by gasoline is powered by coal and gas and oil. this includes the electric car but the beauty about the lectric car is that it will give the opportunity to use renewable resources to charge them, that alone is huge plus trust energy will become so espensive that it further push the green movement and technology will develop even further augmenting the car inefficiency as right now is probaly best to have a hybrid but in the future yes i electric cars will be the thing

A lot of people will give your their personal opinion is response to this. The truth is, climate change is going to be problematic, and peak oil won't dissapear. We'll need alternatives for transport, and likely electric cars will be part of a variety of choices.

    The choices are:

    Hydrogen fuel cell

    Electric car w/battery

Electric car that is charged constantly from the road

    Pressurised Air

    Hybrid electric-petrol/dessil

    Bio-fuelled car

no not at all the problem with electric cars is that electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels which is the same as using petrol /gas in a car in just happens to make the electricity rather than pump in petrol into the car .. the future is hydrogen driven cars ,hydrogen is taken from water and the only by product is water 100% clean fuel we have the Technology now but it's to expensive but in 20 years time hydrogen cell cars will become part of our life's .

No. There will be no future. Russia and Canada will team up and start a nuclear war against the U.S and everyone who was in an alliance with us will turn on us and help Russia and Canada then the radiation from a nuclear war would kill all living things and destroy earth. And if anythings still there the destruction from a nuke will kill them.
