Is a 150cc scooter good for motorcycle beginners, or 50cc? If yes, what models?

I have no riding experience before and got my license recently. Some of my friends have their own scooters, so I also plan to get one. Is a 150cc scooter too fast and unsafe for a motorcycle beginners? I'm a little bit worried. I don't have enough budget for an expensive model. What do you think this one from megamotormadness.com?

Go ahead and 150 cc is ok. Don't worry about the speed if you are still young.

megamotormadness.com is a website I know. I heard of it from my friend who bought a street bike from it. I don't agree that all Chinese products are of bad quality. The motorcycycles on that website is good quality. And they offer the affordable prices that are designed for people who don't have enough budget, like us, right?

As far as I know, the website you mentioned features itself for good after-sales service. You can call them anytime in the guarantee period if you have any problems.

A 50 can do about 35-40 mph -- which is less than speed of traffic so cars will be trying to run you off the road. A 50cc scooter is too slow and thus unsafe. A 80cc-150cc scooter will top 45-60 mph and thus *can* keep up with traffic and thus is less unsafe (nothing in life is "safe.")

The scooter you asked about in you answer is Cheap Chinese Crap. *NO* vehicle -- car, truck, motorcycle, scooter, moped, airplane, boat or any -- is useless if you do not have a manufacturer and dealer and service shop to back it up.

A two decade old used Japanese scooter is better than a new Chinese scooter.

A new pair of Lama Tony boots is better than a used Chinese scooter -- will take you farther.

Please, don't waste your money on a Chinese scooter until they will back up the vehicle with their name and a dealer with a service shop. Get a used Japanese Scooter such as: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/mcy/3001982671.... .... Even a 50 would be better than that CCC, such as http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/mcy/2962507809.... (and a 50 can be used with a car driver's license, no motorcycle license needed.)

I wouldn't touch that scooter with a barge pole, it'll disintegrate in the space of 6 weeks, you will get a much nicer bike if you buy a used Japanese scooter instead; Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki. The Korean Kymco scooters are okay too.

You'll need a couple of lessons before you are safe to ride on the road on your own but I would recommend a scooter between 125cc - 200cc unless you are under 16 years of age.

Yep, my wife is riding a 150cc scooter, bought from the website you said in your question. You don't need to worry about the speed. It's safe enough.

first of all a scooter i not going to prepare anyone for any motorcycle expierence scooters u just turn them on and go and probably top out at 50 max so if you want something to learn on get something with at least a clutch so you dont get one and stall it or flip it like 50 times but get like a 250 honda cbr or rebel depending on what you like better

Source(s): had a scooter and now i have a gsxr 600 and nto even 1 thing in common

The price is really attractive, also for me. I also planning to buy a scooter to ride to school every day.

If you select to learn Chinese then you should know that Chinese language is without a doubt one of the hardest languages for westerners to understand, and up until now learning to speak Chinese to a degree of proficiency outdoors of the classroom setting has been nearly unattainable but not if you choose a program
