Computer has black screen with blinking white hyphen in the top left corner?
In the night I accidentally knocked some tea on my laptop, there wasn't much and I cleaned it off straight away. Now this morning it won't work it just goes to a black screen with a flashing hyphen. How do I fix it? Oh and it's an Acer aspire 4935. Thanks.

Yes, for some reason it can't start the OS, it can't find a programme to run, get a computer shop to look at it, hopefully it is just your hard disk which will probably cost under $80 to replace (although the shop may charge for fitting and reinstalling the OS.
You shouldn't have to buy the OS again because the computer is licensed to a copy so, although a computer shop may charge to install, you shouldn't have to buy a licensee.

Usually this should only be displayed for a few seconds, before the machine starts booting the OS.
If no error message is displayed, and it continues to flash the hyphen, then all i can think of is that the machine can't boot the OS. Could be related to the tea being spilt over it.
You might want to take it to a nearby computer store to get their advice.
Good luck.

Tea or Coffee should never be placed anywhere near a computer coz if you spill it on the said computer it is costly to repair, both tea and coffee are sticky substances and as such if they were to get spilt over the delicate parts inside a computer they have to be replaced
