Since getting new kitchen our water tastes strange?
This week we have had a new kitchen fitted. This included getting a new sink. Since it was fitted (on Tuesday) the water coming from the taps has had a strange taste. It kind of smells like how our kitchen smells (as work is being done our kitchen smells like DIY - paint, glue, etc). I was just wondering if anyone knows why our water is tasting funny, and if I just need to wait for the taste to go or if I need to contact someone? It's been like this for 3 days.

This is why I love PEX tubing. No metallic taste, no joint compounds, no solder flux in my drinking water. Just cut the pipe, slip on a ring, insert a connection, crimp the ring - turn on the water.
In less than six hours I completely re-plumbed my house with PEX from the point where the water comes in to the last faucet on the line. Also installed a water softener and a drinking water system (reverse osmosis). I get the best tasting water around AND don't get those hard water deposits on all my faucets, toilets and no sediment in the water heater. Yes, I have the whole house on the water softener, just not the two outside hose bib connections and the lawn sprinklers, they're just city water, not soft.
Consider an RO (Reverse Osmosis) drinking system, they're great. But don't cheap out on one, the quality is worth the expense.
Good luck.

The taste will fade. It might happen quicker if you flush the pipework by letting the tap run for a while but that would be a bit wasteful, especially at the moment when parts of the country are still drought zones. Meanwhile, a water filter might help.

We found that letting the water stand in a large jug caused the smell and taste to dissipate. We kept a couple of jugs of water in the fridge for drinking purposes until the "newness" wore off.

Sounds normal to me, all the new pipes, fittings and connections are brand-new and your water will taste "metallic" for a while. Give it a month, and it should taste the way it should.
