Leinster v Stormers/Chiefs/Brumbies?

With Leinster by far and away the best team in Europe right now how do you think they'd get on against the top Super XV sides?

Just a bit of fun, I reckon I'd back Leinster against any of them.

Update:

"The only time you can truly compare the merits of each hemisphere is at a world cup"

I'm not talking about international teams or 'the merits of each hemisphere', I'm talking about a hypothetical situation between two club/provincial sides. It only has to become a biased mess if you let it.

There's more to teams than which international stars they have.

Update 2:

Ireland is not Leinster, Ireland's record against NZ is not relevant to the question.

As Rugby Fan has explained better than I could, Leinster are far greater than the sum of their parts. They don't have the best group of individuals in the Heineken Cup and that was my point, it's not just about big names which make great teams.

If you think the best Super Rugby teams would thrash Leinster then fine, that's your opinion, I strongly disagree though. Whoever you think would win I doubt a thrashing would be on the cards.

How often have you seen Leinster play this season by the way?

Leinster are pretty much the All Blacks or Barcelona of European rugby. I'd back them to win the six nations had they been entered instead of Ireland. They're such a complete team and have without doubt the best defence, and best attack to ever grace the Heineken Cup. Theyre so versatile too and can switch from grunt and brawn to playing with the flair of a welsh team from the 70's.

I think Leinsters defence would be around two gears up from most super rugby sides and thatd frustrate the daylights out of them. I reckon the Stormers would give Leinster the best challange given their brawn, yet ability to run the ball with classy backs. But even at that Leinster have something unique in that, like Barcelona in football, every member of the team almost seemingly is part of this one consciousness, where they can just pull out moves that havent been rehearsed, and the players just know instinctively when the ball is coming and what lines to run, and at what speed, and its why they can just rain tries against teams and put up scores like 42-14 in a final.

Its just a shame that Kidney Irelands coach will likely deploy the wrong tactics and the Leinster stalwarts wont be able to play like they do week in week out for their club, and will lead to them not being able to produce internationally. Joe Schmidts contract runs out this year, Irish fans will be begging him to consider the national job.

These questions always turn into a biased mess if you ask me. Such as Leinsters defense would be better than anything in the Super comp .... How do you know that ? Have they faced a team with the best attacking backs in the world in it ? No they have not. Have they played in the cauldron of Loftus at altitude with 50000+ parochial supporters braying for your blood (literally)? No. Have they played on the rock hard ground at Suncorp against Quade, Genia and Ioane in 30 degree heat running at you as if some one had a gun at their back ? No

The only time you can truly compare the merits of each hemisphere is at a world cup and given the South generally win you would say we are the best ....end of. Remember we pack the best of those teams into 5 teams at domestic level.

Another point would be that the successful teams up there are coached by Kiwis Gatland and

Schmidt maybe it comes down to the fact that the Southern systems are harder to crack than Northern defensive systems hence they win more often.

But you are comparing hemispheres the best of the North against the best of the South and they both are packed with international players mostly from their own countries. They only time they all play each other is at a world cup like it or lump it.

You obviously can not comprehend my argument how can you ever compare two teams when they never play against each other, sure its hypothetical but you get bias come into it. Ireland has never beaten NZ in over 100 years of trying so logically you would say that our provinces are better than theirs but they never play so who knows.

If there was more to teams than the international stars they have why did Leinster recruit the biggest off contract star available to win the Heineken cup in Brad Thorn. Surely there was a junior in their organisation who would have been more passionate for them. But it is all about success and Thorn is success personified an international star that made that forward pack hard.

And by the way the best Super rugby side would thrash them ...... hypothetically

They have a good chance against the Brumbies but they'll lose by under 7 vs Stormers/Chiefs
