What is an age appropriate Broadway show?

I am going to NYC with my dad this weekend and i am 13. I don't want to see a boring family show, but it still can't be inappropriate. Any suggestions?

Wicked is definitley the go to show for many people. However, I encourage you to branch out and see some of the other shows New York has to offer.

Peter and the Starcatcher is one of the new shows this season, it is nominated for 9 Tony awards, and it is absolutely FANTASTIC. It is the prequel to Peter Pan, and it is by no means a boring family show. (I'm 18 and I fell in love with it.) It also has one of the main guys from Smash in it, if you watch that show. Just a heads up on this show- it is a play- some people are dead set on seeing a musical, but this show is incredible so give it a try. It does have a few musical numbers! But it is at its core a play.

Chicago is also a wonderful show- though it can be pretty racy. At 13 I would definitely think you'd be fine to see it, but I'm just giving you a heads up.

Once is also one of the new shows this season- it is the most nominated show of the Tonys with 11 Tony noms, it is a musical, and it's breathtaking. It's a wonderful love story, and it's completely appropriate minus a few f-bombs here and there, but otherwise it is a riveting family show.

But if you've never seen Rent, there is a fantastic off-Broadway production going on at New World Stages; and like Chicago, can be fairly racy, but it is one of the most beautiful shows in the world and needs to be seen by everyone.

Those are the shows I'd recommend, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
