Do I need a Polish transit visa?

Hi guys,

I am a Russian national going from London to Moscow with a short (1 hour long) stop-over for flight connection in Warsaw. I don't have a Schengen visa. Basically my question is do I need a Polish transit visa? Thanks!

As citizen of the Russian Federation you can transit through Warsaw Chopin Airport without visa provided that you:

    • continue your journey to a third country on a connecting flight within 24 hours

    • hold a ticket with confirmed seats for your next destination

    • hold all documents required for your next destination

    • have your luggage checked through to your final destination

    • do not leave the airport transit area

Presumably you are arriving in Warsaw on a LOT flight and continue on a code-shared flight operated by Aeroflot. If that should be the case you will meet the above requirements since your luggage can be checked through and you can get your boarding cards for both flight legs on check-in at Heathrow Airport.

If you're planning on exiting the terminal, you have to get a Schengen visa. Luckily though, according to this website http://www.themoscownews.com/russia/20111202/18925... if you already used two Schengen visas, can apply to get one for the term of 5 years.

If you're only going to stay at the airport though,I doubt that you would need one for the time it takes to lay-over. It'd be best though if you contacted someone firsthandedly so you know for sure.

I doubt it because I think the terminals of international airports are designated to be "international zones" . You would only need a visa if you wanted to exit the terminal. I require a visa to enter russia but no visa is necessary when I am only using russian airports as transit points.

I stand corrected! According to the Israelis, russians need transit visas. How unfriendly!

In the event that you wish to visit areas like Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral than you will have to go to Moscow, the capital of the Russian Federation and among the country's hottest locations for international visitors and you can be one of them if you look with hotelbye . In Moscow you will even see the entire world popular theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre, the treasure in the crown of Moscow's rich national life. Moscow has lot to offer and undeniably you will enjoy a holyday here.
