Trouble with paying attention...causing me to stress out?
Okay so basically I am well aware that I am terrible at staying focused on any one task, but I am unable to do anything about it. I have ADHD but have never been medicated for it. I am terrible at getting my homework done for school and I was working on this project I have to hand in right before I decided to ask this question. This project was supposed to be handed in last week, and today my teacher e-mailed my mom (never had this happen before in highschool) so now my mom is really pissed because I will have to hand in my final project late. I tried to do the project numerous times but would just forget about it shortly after starting, and this same scenario has happened before. My mom is disappointed with me, now I feel bad, and I just want to know if medication for ADHD would keep me focused or capable of doing homework/projects. I hate that I get distracted so easily but I can never do anything about it. It's not even that I get distracted by electronics, I have set out to do school work, and ended up just laying down thinking about random things. :S

Same thing happened to me.. It started in 6th grade, see I've had straight A's my WHOLE life, but in 6th grade I started getting C's and a couple D's. ALOT of it has to do with one of my teachers, but here's some tips on how to pay attention:
1. When you find yourself dozing off, thinking of something else, just think: What's going to happen if I don't get this done? What will my mom and teacher say? What will the consequences be?
2. When you find yourself not paying attention in class, you need to look at the teacher, listen, and think about what your not doing, how you could improve it.
3. If you try to pay attention to a project or homework at home, and you just CANNOT, do simple things like breath, take a shower, put on comfortable clothes, fix any problems that your having at the moment so you can focus.
4. If you can't pay attention because there's something else you want to do, then think: I need to focus and get this DONE so that I can go do what I want to do.
