Instead of analyzing signs, why not talk to him about it? It is much more effective and saves you a lot of time. You wont be able to find much help just by reading signs because you didnt post much about his personality, which is a huge thing when it comes to reading sign. He could be an insecure person when it comes to hugging you, or he just does it with all the other girls. Its difficult to tell, but be sure to ask him about it if you want a real answer.

I would say it seems either he was comfortable, or he's protective. Either way it's sweet, and i'd say so. Just don't look too much into things otherwise you'll be focused more on what the moment was about, rather them the moment itself.
