Easy Chicken Casserole Recipe Question answered by Roe?

There was an Easy Chicken Casserole posted on Y/A, in answer to a question. The recipe was posted by Roe, and had boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 3 cans of condensed cream soups, rice, butter, and water. I have everything to make it, but the recipe didn't give any instruction as to what to do with the butter. It says to grease the pan, but, surely it wouldn't call for a whole stick of butter just to grease the pan? Can anyone tell me what I should do with the stick of butter, so that the recipe makes sense? I appreciate all replies. Thank you, everyone!

    CHICKEN AND RICE CASSEROLE

    1 whole chicken, cut up

1 can of cream of mushroom soup

1 can of cream of chicken soup

1 can of cream of celery soup

    1 cup of rice

    1/2 stick of butter, diced

    Preheat oven to 350F.

Combine the rice, butter and three soups in a large bowl. Put them in a large casserole dish or a 9X13 pan. Put the chicken on top. Spice with salt and pepper as desired.

    Bake 35-40 minutes.

In lightly greased casserole dish, mix together 2 - 3 cups of chicken, cooked & cubed. Add 1 pkg of Lipton instant rice, brocoli/cheddar, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can of golden mushroom soup and 1 can evaporated milk. Top with 1 sleeve of crushed Ritz crackers and several pats of butter, then bake @ 350 for about 30 - 40 minutes......You can add shredded cheese to the top the last 5 minutes or so if you like.......It's good either way!

My guess would be that you grease the pan with part of the butter then melt it and mix the butter with the rest of the ingredients. Many casseroles call for melted/softened butter mixed in them
