How to be motivated to go to the gym?
So I'm starting college now, turning 18 in a couple months, and I want to slim down a little. Due to school I didn't play any of my sports so I had about no excercise this school year.
I'm 5'9 and 180-190lbs or so it fluctuates. I am medically overweight, so I wanna change that my BMI is 26, and I want to be around a 24, so like 20 lbs lighter. I know I'm never going to be like a size 2 so realistically thats my goal 20-30lbs
180 might seem like a lot and it is a lot but because I am so tall it proportions out and makes me a size 12, looking likee this:

Anyways to my question, I don't mind working out. I mean I love it, i feel great doing it and after, but I'm lazy to do it? If that makes sense. I can't get up and just go to the gym everyday; for about a month i did, cause my friend went everyday to LA Fitness so I would go with her, but now she has no pass so its up to me. When I force myself to go to the gym I end up spending 2-3 hours there, so its not that I don't like working out, i have no motivation to go? If that makes sense

you aren't obese so that's a good thing, but you could get there very soon. i would start making lifestyle changes now so you dont have to worry about it when your 10 years older and 40lbs more then you are now...
1) you dont need to exercise to lose weight - you could do it all by diet alone (though its not recommended)
2) its all common sense – calories in vs calories out. You need to “burn” more then you eat. However its not that hard – because your body burns calories while you’re sitting!
3) Figure out how many calories you need to eat to be at maintenance (this is the amount of calories you can eat and stay the EXACT SAME weight you are now). to figure this out google TDEE calculator
4) If you want to lose weight, you lower your calories.. if you want to gain weight, you raise the calories
5) Combine that with lifting weights and a little cardio and you are all set.
6) 1lb of muscle is 1/8th the size of 1lb of fat.. so if you lift heavy weights – you will get skinny. Remember that. Its impossible to get “big” lifting weights without drugs..or eating a LOT of food (5000 calories a day) – and you are prob somewhere around 1500 calories a day.. so try to eat some 20 bigmacs on top of that to get a tiny bit of muscle..
The whole diet thing might sound stupid, but when you start to attract better looking guys (and guys with more money), you will be happier. Your confidence will be better, you won’t be afraid to show off your body in a bikini, you will be more confident, and at job interviews, people will respect you more.
Its worth all the benefits to be fit vs being overweight (this applies to both obese people, and slightly overweight like yourself)
Enjoy life, and I promise that being fit will make you a happier person!
