Noise coming out of the crank area (bottom bracket) usually means it's shot - time for a new one. A bike shop can change that out quickly & inexpensively.
BTW...you don't "peddle" a bicycle. You "pedal" a bicycle. "Peddle" is to sell goods or wares...as a door-to-door salesperson would sell magazine subscriptions or vacuum cleaners.

There are several possibilities as to the source of the noise. Often times pedal problems can seem to come from the cranks and even the lower part of the frame if it is cracked or a weld failing.
It could be that the bearings in the bottom bracket (axle) are too loose, too tight or damaged. It could be the same thing happening with pedal bearings. It could be the fit of a crank arm on the axle is not quite right (usually a loud creaking sound) or that the crank arm is cracked (rare). It could be something else cracked or loose on the pedals.
If you can't identify the specific source by ear, you can be your own mechanic and take things apart, inspect them, replace (if needed), lube and reassemble. Or you can pay a mechanic who can do it more quickly and accurately for about the cost of the tools you would need. If you are at all mechanically inclined, try it yourself first. The knowledge you gain will be useful and you won't need to buy those tools again.
There are some tricks to getting the bearing adjustments just right but a good fix-it book will explain them. Getting the cranks put on with the correct amount of pressure is touchy -- too much will damage them right away and too little will allow them to loosen and wear to the point of replacement.

This is why: I am sure you neglected the thing and never put any grease on the bottom bracket bearings. Then you never inspected the tightness of the bolts. Now, you will need a new crank and maybe a bottom bracket.
