a man did something to his wife while abroad , legal abroad but not at home ... shall he get charged at home ?
e.g. in some developing countries there is no law preventing a man to fight with his wife (by hands) ... so if that happened abroad , what shall happen when they get back to home ? and is there a period of time after which the case will be automatically expired ??
on the other way around : in these developing countries a woman can not travel without the consent of her husband, so if his wife decided to leave back to home would the 3rd world country ask her husband permission too ?? in other words: which law will be applied on the couple : that of the country of origin OR that of the country they are visiting ???

Have you seen the film Not Without My Daughter? The law applied is almost always that of the country you're in except in a few special circumstances or in cases like Denmark (or it could be the Netherlands) where if you commit a crime against their laws anywhere in the world they will charge you should you enter their country.

Visiting countries law is applied.
However it can be tricky even when it comes to states, in that if it's illegal in both but the sentences are different, you'll generally be sentenced according to how it is in your home state.
