In fact, it was originally a New York - Rio- Buenos Airies route started by the NYRBA airlines that was taken over by Pan Am in a Wall Street (stock market) hostile takeover. The route included as many as 30 stops in the Caribbean and along the east coast of South America. Stops included such places as Havana, Virgin Islands, Trinidad, British West Indies, British Guiana, Fortaleza, Natal, Santos, Puerto Allegra and about 2 dozen others. Not all flights stopped at every one of these ports along the way, however.
