    Find 168 divided by 3

    168 / 3 = 56

    3 x 56 = 168

    Find - 59 plus - 3

    - 56 + (- 3) = - 59

    The answers are - 3 and - 56.

    168

    = 2 * 84

    = 2 * 2 * 42

    = 2 * 2 * 2 * 21

    = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 7

    Try multiplying different combinations of those numbers.

    The one that works is: 2*2*2*7=56 and the 3

    -56 * -3 = 168

    -56 + (-3) = -59

    Answer: -56 and -3

    -56*-3=168

    and

    -56+ -3=-59

    a + b = 3 and a*b = -4 b = 3 - a ==> a(3 - a) = -4 ==> 3a - a^2 = -4 ==> a^2 - 3a - 4 = 0 ==> a^2 + a - 4a - 4 = 0 ==> a(a + a million) - 4(a + a million) = 0 ==> (a - 4)(a + a million) = 0 So a = 4 or -a million and b = -a million or 4
