If I take responibility for the weed, can that get my friend out of the CDS in a motor vehicle charge>?

This happened in the state of New Jersey.I was the passenger in a car and when we got pulled over the police found weed under where I was sitting. They pulled me out searched me(didn't find anything on me) and then arrested me. They then pulled the driver out found a bag on him and arrested him and then found another bag in the center consul(but did not search the rest of the car.) If I take responsibility for the weed I was sitting on, that started the whole thing does he get out of the CDS in a motor vehicle charge? He also received a DUI charge after getting back to the station, would that be dropped as well since it all happened after they found the initial weed? Please Help! I just want to know and am looking for an answer by someone with a legal background.
