Irvine or Riverside for Creative Writing?

I have recently been accepted to both UC Irvine and UC Riverside and am trying to decide which one to attend. I am planing to major in creative writing.

On the one hand Riverside has a bachelor in Creative Writing itself, while Irvine has a Bachelor in English with an emphasis in creative writing. However in doing research Irvine's English department shows to be ranked quite high.

I believe that UC Irvine would be a better choice because you will have more opportunities after school with your Bachelor's in English with the emphasis. Also since Irvine is ranked better then UC Riverside that is a great thing. I was considering applying to UCR's grad program but I will make sure I do my research. Good luck

Tough decision. Would you rather take more classes directly related to creative writing, or be in a more well-known program? The creative writing program at Irvine is very well respected (one of the best in the country) but it is a graduate program and they only offer a few classes for undergrads -- you'll be taking most of your courses in English literature, not creative writing. There are other, extracurricular ways to get more writing experience too: http://www.humanities.uci.edu/creativewriting/prog...

Just go to Irvine. The school (overall) is ranked higher than Riverside and having the English part might help you in the future.
