How do you steep cream?

I have a molten cake recipe that says for the ganache, you need to steep the cream in the chocolate. What does that mean?

It's the other way around. You steep the chocolate in the cream. You heat the cream, then let the chocolate sit in the very warm cream until the chocolate melts totally so it can be thoroughly mixed into the cream. To steep means to let something sit in a liquid, usually but not necessarily a hot liquid.

    Steep means:

To Steep food is to let the food soak in hot liquid to absorb flavor.

    How to steep:

bring to a simmer, add whatever is to be steeped, and let sit for the length of time specified. The flavor will be infused into the liquid.
