Complete moral disaster!!!! I really need help!?

so my best friend has a major major crush on this guy, and she never ever shuts up about him - at first she doubted if he liked her back, but i kept being positive telling her that he definitely did (i didn't know this for sure, i was just being a good friend) and now she is totally convinced that he does like her.
however, i was chatting with the guy today, and he told me that he fancied this other girl, and he made me swear not to tell anyone. i feel really upset for my friend - even i was starting to believe he liked her back! i know i should probably tell her, to stop her from making a fool out of herself - but i really don't want to break a promise. this guy is really violent and will probably beat me up :( i also really like him (as a friend) and want to keep his friendship... 

i would tell my friend and make her promise not to tell anyone else if she was someone else, but my friend is a total blabbermouth and really can't keep a secret... 

So what would you do in my situation? i'm really stressing out and i have no idea what to do!!!
Any advice would be appreciated!

Next time she starts going on about him just say that nah, i don't really think so anymore. Just keep doing something along the lines of suggesting that you don't think he likes her. That way you're giving your opinion without breaking her heart or breaking his promise. Its only a crush and soon enough she'll find someone else to pine after.

This might sound mean. You have to choose which friend is more important. You could tell her and risk her telling him or you could keep the secret. Personally,I think you should talk her out of him. Set her up with someone else etc.

A crush doesnt last forever, so to me you have two options:

1) Dont tell your friend, noone will be sad and your friend will eventually get a new crush.

2) Tell your friend, your friend will be sad until she get a new crush, you get beaten up and lose a violent "friend".

I think I would go for.... number two.

if she asks and only if she asks then tell her you know for a fact he likes some other chick...dont name any names and u wont be in trouble
