leaving dog home alone for the day?

I am dog sitting a 8yr old siberian husky, well behaved. I walk her in the morning, come home at lunch and walk her, and walk her in the evening. No problems leaving her loose in the apartment all day.

I have to take a trip and will not be back for 16 hours. Should I put her in her cage so she will not get into trouble? If I cage her, I will give her a water bow., but should I give her food? Should I restrict the food before hand?

16 hours is too long. 8 hours is fine, but 16 is way too long, especially for a Husky. They need lots of exercise. Since you are dog sitting someone else's dog they probably would not be happy if they knew you had left her alone for 16 hours. You should find a friend or relative to look in on her while you are gone.

16 hours is a long time to leave a dog alone, without someone else checking on the dog periodically.Ask one of your closest neighbors or friends to help you out and check on the dog every once in a while. As far as leaving the dog in the cage is a good idea just make sure the dog has plenty of blankets, water and food ,if the cage is big enough for toys ,don't forget the toys. Dogs will try it's best to entertain, itself ,even if this means trying to break free from the cage or even worse tearing the wallpaper off of the walls,if the dog isn't in a cage. Good Luck! I Hope I Helped.

I have had to do this before so maybe you could keep the husky in a closed in room that has good air flow and steady food and water supply. maybe leave a puppy pee pad in there for it along with toys to play with so that the husky will not get bored and try to get into any mischief... ^ ^ i have a weenie dog and that is what I do for him ^ ^ good luck!! Also a trusted friend checking on it every once in a while would not hurt either.

Do you might have a buddy, relative, neighbor (howdy the children are off from tuition now, i do know I constantly sorted my neighbors canine when I used to be a child), co-employee who would not mind stopping with the aid of once a day to ensure she has food and water. I mean what if her water spills a hour after you go away? She might doe of dehydration. There are additionally numerous reputable pet sitters. Seem one up on your area, any riskless one may have plenty of references. A pet sitter will as a rule charge about $10 a day, I assume $30 is well valued at you not having to worry about your little lady. Have enjoyable in LA!

No. You don't cage her for 16 hours. I don't care what the circumstances are. Find a good friend, neighbor or a qualified pet sitter and pay about $20.00 to $30.00 to make sure your dog is taken care of while you are gone.

16 hours is too much in my opinion. Limiting food but giving her water is still going to make her urinate and possibly defecate and could very well cause her to become stressed.

No need to risk stressing her out for $20.00. Heck, I would be more than happy to help you if you lived in my area. And I would do it for free.

i suggest if you are going to lock her in her cage you put a doggy bed or blankets at the bottom for her and i would put food and water in there because 16 hours s a rather long time but you should probably have someone go over and let her out so she doest soil her crate.
