can you join the coast guard, with one dui on your record?

My nephew is trying to join the Coast Guard (Air Force wouldn't take him). He has one problem, one DUI on record. He attended DUI offenders school, paid the huge fine, the offense was 2 years ago.

His record has been expunged, because he did everything he was asked to do. Only expunged for driver's record only. The military is allowed to view expunged records. Recruiter said it's up to Coast Guard higher ups. Otherwise he is a good young man, with no other record. We are still waiting for an "Exception to the Rule", ruling. Thanks!

    Nope.

It's technically waiverable, but no one is issuing waivers for anything right now.

The recruiter saying "up to the higher ups" is true - but it was mostly just a polite way of saying "no".

Sorry. yet sure, you will possibly besides flow refer to a recruiter - you have have been given no longer something to lose - in simple terms don't be shocked if the pastime is decrease than lukewarm.

i really think it depends on rank. i don't know if this applies to the coast guard but i knew someone in the army that was a master sergeant and he got a DUI and was dishonorably discharged.
