Does he really like me? or was he being nice or friendly PLEASE ANSWER!!!"?

So today this Guy was being mean to me lets call him "Zach" today Zach told me that this Guy doesn't like me (my crush) (lets call him Steve) and I should forget about him.

"_____ he doesn't like you! He is just being friendly and forget about it he will never like you"

When Zach said that it torned my heart I was heartbroken and it didn't feel good I wanted to cry also too about like 5 minutes later I had a book with me and I started crying so hard. But my friends came and told me why was I crying. I had my book in my face and I didn't want anyone to see me then my crush came and told me not to listen to him beacause he's a jerk and its not true. I was still crying and I came and hugged him on his stomach and put my face on his stomach I had my face in there so I couldn't see his reaction. Anyways he came and told Zach lots of bad words and told me I shouldn't worry that he will jump him and everyone in the class would. That was in the lunchroom he said that too.

Okay lets go to the classroom. I was still crying and Steve got some guys to jump him in the classroom and everyone of my classmates jumped him. He was very nice to me and sat next to me. Steve came and talked to me and smiled at me I still felt uncomfortable but then minutes later I started smiling. He was always there with me he told me that when he left he will come back and etc. Stuff like that that. I would look into his eyes and see if he liked me and he saw me I would do this for 6 times I think and his eyes were dialited a LOT. He playfully told me "what" Steve and smiled laughing too. The point is that he was alwaysthere for me and my friends too. He and me shared a chair with eachother and I became sleepy and he let me lay on his shoulder!!! The point is, does he like me OR he was being friendly and nice to me because he felt bad? He also protected me from Zach does he like me?
