Well, I guess people will be freaked out, but times have changed. I think some parents will not let their child read/continue to read the Green Lantern. In a way though, he always was gay, but just came out.

Why not? Especially when close to no one reads comics anymore? I think the implication here is that the few who are still unique enough to want to read them understand people who are different, and don't mind anything that differs from standard procedure in their comics. Well except for you, I guess.

As for the parents, I don't really think they care. Unless they're those "Round 'em up and burn 'em at the stake" religious type of parent, I really truly don't think they care.
