What to feed a fresh water crab?

I got a fresh water crab, Iv never had any crabs before.

I don't know what to feed him, and Im afraid hes the only thing in the tank (besides water of course).

Can anyone tell me what to feed him? And any tips on taking care of him?

Thanks!

    well, I'm guessing it's a fiddler crab... they're pretty easy though, don't worry! :)

The best setup is a ten gallon long tank, filled up 2/3 with slightly brackish water (that means it has a small amount of salt in it, you may want to look it up!), a large piece of bogwood that will make a sort of island for the crab to go on (they NEED to be able to get out of the water), some live or plastic plants, some river rock, a water heater and filter, plus a tight fitting lighted lid so he can't escape. Use sand on the bottom of the tank also. You'll have to clean the tank by siphoning out some of the water every week and get rid of any gross stuff that may have accumulated in there. Buy like 2 more crabs to make it more interesting. :)

They are carnivores mainly, so feed them a mix of sinking shrimp pellets, blood worms, fish flakes, and algae wafers. They also love snacking on small snails! I keep a fairly large group of small snails in my crab tank just in case I can't feed them for some reason.

    Source(s): I have a few crabs :)
