What are some good names for a mermaid?
I am writing story about a mermaid but can't find a name. Any suggestions?

Maybe something related to nature or the ocean. Sometimes I like to combine two words to form a name or spell sometime I like backwards and it may come out really cool.
For example, if I were to come up with the name of a person, place or thing, I might take my favorite Greek goddess, "Aphrodite" and spell that backwards. It will become, "Etidorhpa." If it comes out as weird as that, I change it a bit. Like I would take away the "P" perhaps and get, "Etidorha" which sounds a bit more decent to me. Well that's one idea of mine.
But if you're looking for a name without any complications and want to get to the point, here are some of my ideas:
-Ariel
-Melody
-Nori
-Shelly
-Sandy
-Oceansea???
-Nalou
-Starshine
-Starry
-Eveningstar/Evenstar
Once you find a name you like, maybe you could shorten it out especially if you're writing a story so the other characters could call that one character by their shortened name/nick name... :P
I hope that helped! Good luck finding a great name you like!

Don't use sterotypes like Ariel, Aquamarine, or Syrena. Maybe Oceana? If that is still too sterotypical, try Melody? My friend wrote a story about mermaids and that was the main characters' name. Use a baby name generator if you are still stuck.

I also really like the name Zale, but I don't see that as a female characters name.
