How much does a police officer make vs a doctor?
Trying to decide between law enforcement and becoming a dentist. How much will I make at the beginning and towards the end of each field? What is the better career?

Dentists can typically make 100,000+ where as a law enforcing agent can make 40,000+
Money is in dentistry if that is what you are after.

Police officers make anywhere between $30,000 and $60,000 with the median salary being $43,000 nationally. Police officers have a tough job, and often have to work crummy hours/shifts, it is a very rewarding career however, and you get to do lots of cool things. Like, shoot cool weapons, work with police dogs, drive squad cars etc. I know a cop, and he LOVES his job... He does work third shift though :/ it was not his choice either...
Dentists average right about $120,000. However, you'd be looking at 8+ years of schooling and you would never see all 120K... after malpractice insurance and overhead costs (like paying secretaries, rent, insurance etc.). Also a rewarding career, but a little gross if you ask me... digging in people's nasty mouths all day? yeesh... not for me I guess! They still make a great living though!
In the end, you should choose a career that will make you happy. Don't worry about salary, or your job title. I initially went to college thinking whole-heartedly that I was going to become a doctor and get rich. But after my first year, I've already changed my mind and am on my way to a chemistry degree with plans to work as a chemist or possibly in pharmaceutical development.
