The Brooklyn Dodgers on October 8th, 1956 during the World Series.

The Dodger lineup featured HOFer Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella and Jackie Robinson as well as Gil Hodges (who should be in the HOF).

They were victimized by Don Larson who had a career record at the time of 30 wins and 40 losses. Two years earlier in 1954 he finished the season with 3 wins and 21 losses. In the 1954 World Series he was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA against basically the same Brooklyn team.

The 1990 Oakland Athletics. Defending World Series Champions, would go on to finish the 1990 season 103-59 before a shocking sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series that fall. Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Dave Henderson, and Rickey Henderson combined for 124 home runs that year, and they finished with the best record in baseball for the third season in a row.

The pitch who no-hit them? Nolan Ryan, of course. His 6th no-hitter, on June 11th, 1990. The Texas Rangers won, 5-0.

Oddly, just 18 days later the A's would be on the WINNING side of a no-hitter with the exact same score, when Dave Stewart shut down the Toronto Blue Jays on June 29th, 5-0. (Perhaps even MORE strange, the Toronto Blue Jays would be the winning team in the NEXT no-hitter, when Dave Stieb blanked the Cleveland Indians 3-0 on September 2nd.)
