Can British black people be in the NAACP?

Just curious. I've always thought the NAACP was an African American thing, so I'm not sure if black people of all nationalities can join.

The NAACP was originally created to help black people in the United States because our country was going through racial inequalities at the time. British black people could join if they are in the United States, but if they live in Britain, they really can't benefit from it.

Well, the N does stand for "National," which would logically indicate that it's particular to a given country. In this case, it is an American organization, dealing with American issues. I don't see that someone in Britain would have much interest in the civil liberties of Americans. On the other hand, if they live here and are American citizens, it doesn't matter where they were born.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People?

Well, technically, the association is for NA only. However, that does not mean that, being from another country, you can't fully support and identify with their cause.
