You'll need to find an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, preferably through a technical or community college. Trade schools are not respected for ultrasound.

Trade schools are indeed very expensive. Have you looked into community colleges in your area? They may offer that major/program and it will be much cheaper.

If not, ask the trade schools if you can take the pre requisite courses at a comm college and if they're transferable. You save money by not doing the entire program at the trade school.
