Good pickups for restoring guitar?
Im workin on restoring my first guitar. It was made by Harmony. It doesn't he any power to the pickups. Frankly I'd like to replace the pickups with something of a better quality. There's a guitar center like 5minutes away for
My house and i could go in there and walk around forever looking for something but I like to have an idea of what I'm looking for before I go shopping for stuff. Also is it hard to rewire the whole guitar? I'm pretty good with electrical work and soldering. Any input would be real appreciated. I' don't play guitar at all btw I'm gettin this thing goin kind f as a gift to my buddies son.

Hello there,
If you have a vintage Harmony (60s or 70s era), you do not swap out the pickups. Every piece you can, fix, repair, polish, and the let drops the value of a vintage guitar.
Many vintage Harmony guitars have DeArmond gold foil pickups. Those are some of the best pickups ever made. If you are lucky enough to have DeArmond pickups, do not change them. A used DeArmond gold foil pickup will run your at least $125, if you can find one. For comparison, you can buy a used Seymour Duncan for $25.
If you have a vintage Harmony, let it as is. Sell it as, if you need the money. If you want to tinker with a guitar. Go buy a $50 used Squier Stratocaster. You cannot destroy the value of that.
