my laptop will lightup but the lcd is black?
it started doing it and if i powered it right back off and on again i would come on but will not now. any ideas on how i can get it to come on at least once so i can retrieve my files. it's kinda like a driver isn't loading. its an HP running Vista 64 bit

When asking a questioned post the brand as well as model number and installed operating of the laptop.
Most likely the operating system has corrupt start up files, Press F8 repeatedly at start up black screen to enter start option chose safe mode back up every thing of importance then restart choosing system repair or recovery. You did create the operating system recovery disc set didn't you ?
