    Sure they did, underneath all that ape hair. This is a metaphorical Adam and Eve, right?

    Yup. They sure did. God created them like that to give the illusion that there was something before them. Just like he created the world with mountains, fossils and geological strata.

    There is a name for that theory: Omphalos hypothesis

    no one knows for sure but it would make sense that they didn't since neither was fed through an umbilical cord
