They are OK. You are using the crop of the framing to create a little more interest in the image, which is fine. The dog is a little too centered and the eyes are basically black pools with no lighting. At least he is looking into the frame, at least for a bit.
The second photo is better. The lighting is better with decent balance between the strong backlight and the fill light on her face, same with the framing. The lens flare on the left is a little distracting.
