What kind of car is an 8-6?

I've been watching initial d, an anime series from the 90s lately...and the main character Tacumi san drives a car that they refer to as the 8-6. I recently bought a nissan sentra spec v type r that has the numbers 86 around the nissan emblem on the rear trunk...what does 8-6 stand for and does it have any relation to my car?

An 86 is short for the chassis code given to that model, further known by Japanese culture as a hachiroku. People refer to the cars to their chassis models now a days, a fad i guess but i grew on it. For example a 1993 Mazda RX7 is a FD3S, 1997 Honda Civic is a EK9. Still here in the states an ae86 is a Toyota Corolla from 1983 to 1987. That chassis model line was used for the levin and trueno over in Japan. A levin has no flip up headlights as the trueno does. But sorry to disappoint but your car has absolutely no relation to that. A real 86 does not even come close to a Nissan Sentra, I doubt I'd see anyone tooling around in one doing downhill runs in it. If your very interested in Initial D google the name & you will get over a million hits on that search and your questions will be answered man.
