One of our relatives is at a new rehab facility, they claim to be able to control Bipolar without meds?

By using yoga as relaxation.

Now I understood Bipolar or manic depression is like diabetics or thyroid disorder, you need medication to control it. Like insulin for diabetics, Thyoxine for low thyroid. Am I wrong, this seems like a hoax.

They do have some success at managing the symptoms of bipolar with psychotherapy but very limited. Medication is the best way to stabilize the symptoms of bipolar and unfortunately many people with bipolar enjoy the manic episode too much to take their meds.

Yoga is a fine thing, and it might help some people deal with some milder symptoms, at least some of the time, but it's a fraud to think that yoga alone could control the severe mood swings that come with bipolar disorder. If you're too depressed to even get out of bed, or so depressed you're suicidal, then you don't give a rip about yoga. If you're manic, then chances are good you won't think you need to relax, and you have too many other "things to do" than sit long enough to do yoga. I think the rehab facility is just another one of those places that claim to have a cure for something, when they don't.

It's whatever that I find both sides are responsible of. It can be without problems that folks are entrenched in their opinions and as a result the opinions or views of the opposing aspects are perceived in simplistic and as caricatures. I don't consider it can be an attempt to mislead, but is effectively folks arguing about things they are ignorant of. Examples from all sides that I've obvious on R&S: - there is absolutely no proof for evolution (despite the fact that actual to some extent, i.E. That there is no singular piece of evidence that proves it, there is a tremendous physique of assisting proof) - faith is the purpose of all wars/more wars than whatever else/extra struggling than some thing else. - faith prevents scientific discovery - Islam is a violent faith - Medieval Christians were ignorant illiterate people who believed the arena used to be flat - theory X disproves evolution... Etc etc and so on. It will get really boring after a at the same time, because it can be apparent that the majority people make claims and counter-claims with none inspiration or study and are simply parrotting in general-held however inaccurate homilies.

Just Google "yoga bipolar" for info. It certainly can't hurt. Yoga and meditation aren't just about feeling relaxed. These types of practices if done correctly actually change brain functioning as measured by EEGs.
