HELP! 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse front end clunking!?

Loud clunks, over big bumps, little bumps or no bumps! Car doesn't bounce up and down, drives straight, now vibration. Had dealer check out front end, said everything looked good. They hear the noise, but can't find the problem without doing a 'tear down'. If struts or shocks were bad, wouldn't it bounce or sway? How to know if its struts, coils or control bar, bushings? Don't have much $$. Need help! Am a woman that bought it used, thinking it wouldn't cost much to fix:( Don't want to be taken by repair place and have them tell me I need new 'everything'! To me it feels like something that goes all across front end to both front sides. Does not affect steering. What should I do 1st? On disability, so can't afford big $$. Need this car to last! HELP! HELP! PLEASE! Thanks for your time. Feel free to email me.

If the clunking is more prevalent on turns, it's most likely your CV Joints are gone. Have someone stand outside the car to see which side is worse as you make a turn. If you took this car to the dealer you bought it from- I doubt he would find anything wrong. Your going to have to ask around for estimates, and if your taking it somewhere, have a male with you that may know at least a little about a car.

I, too, have had a similar hindrance with the entrance end on my 01 eclipse gt. Brought it to the save, they put new tires throughout and performed an alignment to "repair" the vibration. Upon further inspection the mechanic instructed me i needed new bushings on the inside of the steering box. 240 bucks and three hours later i drove out and still had the pulling and vibrations. Introduced it straight again and raised somewhat of hell. They then re-alligned it again and a different mechanic told me the "shims" within the camber/caster changes have been off adjustment. I don't have any concept where to search out these however they executed what they needed to do (once more) and i also observed even as i was once staring at them work on it, re-balanced my wheels. I've, and 2 weeks after shopping the vehicle in 01 had bought 18" wheels, they saved trying to say it was once the aftermarket wheels. However the wheels had been on the car for the earlier 7 years so i dunno. So a total of 635 bucks to converted out bushings, shims..Etc +new tires for all the disorders to go away.
