Why broadway actors/actress cannot see that acting on a broadway stage is not a "real job"?

If you been on a stage on front of thousands of people professionally. what makes you even think this thing a "real job" to you? Ordinary people think acting on a stage is not a real job. I don't think it's a real job because I've never act sing or dance in front of people in my entire life that's not what a ordinary person can't do because a ordinary person like me who have a ordinary life and does not have special features like broadway people who sing dance and act on stage.

The answer is in what you wrote.

"If you been on a stage on front of thousands of people professionally...."

"Professionally" - that's what you wrote. You've just admitted that it's a profession.

If it's not a "real job," it IS a "real profession."

Okay. Let's start by this: What is a job? A job is a role in society that needs to be filled, something that needs to be done and, thus, rewards the worker in some form (usually monetary).

Now, imagine a world in which there was no entertainment whatsoever. You can't? well, that's because IT'S NEEDED. Society requires it as an outlet. That's the first, and most important, part of the definition of a job covered right there. Is it rewarding? Why, of course. Not only does it provide an amazing sense of accomplishment when done right, but it's also more often than not payed monetarily (and don't let me go on about how high some actors' income can be, Broadway is a VERY good investment)

If you're getting paid for it, it's a job.

That's like you saying someone who works at a lemonade stand doesn't have a real job but someone who works at a coffee shop does...it's the same ****. A job is a job as along as your getting paid for it.

Musical Theater is a real job. they have unions and insurance and everything. It's freelance obviously, you go from gig to gig. Now if you don't relate to it that's fine ( a lot of people don't ) but its still a job.
