Did you mean
1 / ((1/a)-(1/b)) ?
Your answer to this would be:
Multiply the top and the bottom by ab:
1/ ((1/a) -(1/b))
= ab / (b-a)
Thus your answer would be B. ab / b-a

1 / (1/a - (1-b)) — Find the least common denominator, which is a.
1 / [(1 - a (1-b)) / a] — Since this is a double fraction, the a in the denominator moves on top of the main fraction and is multiplied by 1.
a / (1 - a (1-b)) — Now distribute the a in the parentheses.
a / (1 - a + ab)
You can't really go any further than this, so the answer is E, "None of these."
EDIT: I still think you made a mistake with the notation of the problem. If instead of (1-b) you had (1/b), the result would turn out much nicer and the correct solution would be B, "ab / (b-a)."
1 / (1/a - 1/b) — Find the least common denominator, which is ab this time.
1 / [(b - a) / ab] — Again, this is a double fraction, so the ab goes on top of the main fraction.
ab / (b - a)
The answer is B, "ab / (b-a)."

It looks like you have 1/a - 1/a in the denominator. That's not good because 1/a - 1/a = 0 and you can't EVER divide by zero. So, the expression, at least as you have written it, is UNDEFINED. The answer, therefore, would be "E. None of these."

the denominator, 1/a - 1/a = 0 and the fraction becomes 1 / 0 which is either undefined or equal to infinity, depending on who you ask. So "none of the above" the way I see it.

Why thanks, Chuck.
Clearly looking at the problem we can see an Issue. the denominator will go to 0 for any number of a.
Your answer is then E) None of these.
Best option: DNE
