Do you really have to save money as a teenager?

I'm 16, I have a bit more than $4100, and i get $140 every month, and some from birthdays and stuff.

I feel like buying golf clubs for $850, but many people tells me to save my money.

My question is: is it really THAT important to save every bit of money? Will you need every little bit of it when you grow up, or can you spend some on hobbies and stuff? I don't know, I'm still young.

Update:

So, should I buy them or not? :)

Its important to not spend frivilously. Teens will spent the first 20 they get on fast food, the first 50 on a stupid video game theyll play for just 10 days.

Your case is different, youve saved a large sum for something important to you. Golf clubs are NOT stupid (i dont play golf) but this is not frivilous spending. Youve done something most adults cant - save up for an important want slowly and pay cash for it when youve made it. If you keep this up you will do well....Go for it youve earned it.
