if i have my own directv hd dvr receiver (purchased from best buy) do i still have to pay 6 bucks a month?

    Is the 6 bucks for service or equipment? If it's for the rental of the box then no, if its for the service then yes.

    Yes. Best Buy does not outright sell the boxes, nobody does. What you pay Best Buy is money down on a lease.
