Do you think a girl would like if I did this? (teen girls)?

So I just started talking to this girl ( I'm going to be a junior and she'll be a freshman). I met her a couple years ago but never really knew her and now I just kind of talk to her on Facebook and text her. I obviously don't want to just keep texting her because she's wicked cool and gorgeous. Would it be too much to straight up ask her out to dinner someday? Or should I just ask her to hang out or something?
