What can i do about this? I am getting a lot of fake contact requests on yahoo messenger?
How can I stop all of these spammers pretending to be friends?

Long time no talk :)
Lol,anyway,I used to get all those fake requests too,
I just marked them as spam and blocked who I did not know.
I also found this on another yahoo answers question(On how to block messenger request from people you don't know)" on the messenger box, click
Messenger > Preferences > Ignore List : tick the box to ignore anyone who is not in your messenger list. click OK to apply."

I regularly get requests in my e mail from folks that I don't know! I supply them a threat in my contacts record and if they don't seem to be right then I transfer them! I think you probably did the improper thing! You would have lost whatever very major with the aid of denying the contact!
