How is homecourt an advantage in The NBA Finals?
The current format is a disadvantage imo 2 games at home then 3 on the road with the possiblity of the last 2 at home? it should be 1-2-1-2-1 doesnt this work better?
i didnt think about that finals MVP what about 1-3-1-2?

If it goes 7 you still have the last game at home.
The thing I hate is having the previous series 2-2-1-1-1 and then you change it for The Finals.
And don't give me travel, because if the NHL can do it so can the NBA. All series in the Stanley Cup is 2-2-1-1-1, including the finals which was L.A. vs. New Jersey.

If the higher seeded team can't defend home court then yeah it would appear to be a huge disadvantage. But since the 2-3-2 format has been adapted only two teams have split the first two games then won all 3 at home. So history says that OKC should be able to win one of these next two in Miami. But they haven't really played that well this series at OKC so I don't know what good it will do them.

It depends on both of their final files. Who ever has the better report gets homecourt. But the Lakers have the tie breaker considering that they have won nearly all of their games against the Celtics this year. So in the event that they come to be having a tie report at the finish of the ordinary season then the Lakers may have dwelling court advantage.

No because it decreases the amount of traveling they have to do, especially in a series like boston vs LA.
And if the thunder take at least 1 game in miami than they have 6 and 7 at home, which is a huge advantage.

No, because then you travel 5x whereas the 2-3-2 format is 3x. Anyways, its not a disadvantage because OKC had home court advantage and lost.
